Mrs Gail Blaker

I have been teaching at Collaton St Mary for the last five years. Before this, I taught in an international school in Marbella, Spain for 12 years, an experience I will never forget. I returned home to England with my two girls to settle back in Torbay with family and friends.

I have always enjoyed being in the classroom, no two days are ever the same! Teaching here at Collaton is a wonderful experience because it is such a happy, friendly school.

My great passion is my horse. I will never be a great show jumper but I thoroughly enjoy riding around the lanes and beaches of Brixham.

Mrs Susan Cynk

I am the oldest teacher at Collaton St Mary. I qualified as a teacher in 1978! Over the last 42 years(!) I have taught full time and part time in Buckinghamshire, Surrey, Devon and Torbay and seen many changes in education during this time. I have been teaching here at Collaton St Mary for almost 8 years, in a variety of roles – initially working with small groups supporting year 5 and 6 learning, working in year 6 with Mrs Burns and then Mr Bagnall.

Mrs Blaker and I have thoroughly enjoyed job sharing for the last 5 years.

I am very proud of my 3 children, all of whom I have taught in their primary years (not the easiest experience!). They have all flown the nest – my eldest daughter and eldest son both live in Sydney, my youngest son in London.

My husband has Polish parents, which has added a lot of sparkle to my life with their different colourful traditions, food and language. Travelling is something I really enjoy. Australia, Poland and Arizona (where one of my sisters live) are places I regularly visit. Once I retire, I hope to visit many more wonderful places in the world.
